We did get to see parts of the island that we wouldn't have gotten to see otherwise. It was interesting and entertaining. The only issue is it is hard to see things when you are driving quickly and by the time you see what the driver is pointing out - its already passed. We were in the very back of the bus which might have been the issue.

We only had one full day in MV, so we took this 3-hour tour. It's a lot of ground to cover, so you're in the van a lot, but the tour guide kept up the commentary of facts about the island. Very clean and comfortable van. We stopped at the fishing village; unfortunately we had just eaten lunch or we would have purchased some chowder (samples were delicious!) and the lobster rolls looked wonderful. We also stopped at the cliffs/lighthouse; it was a little windy and cool, but the views were amazing. Would have loved more time in Edgartown as it appeared to be the prettiest or the towns with beautiful historic homes, etc. Had we had a another day on MV, we would have circled back to spend some time there. We were a little disappointed to learn that the public access to the beaches in MV is very limited; consequently a lot of the views from the van were just vegetation. Driver was very nice.

We only had a day to see the island and also wanted to get over to Chappaquiddick so we signed up for this 3 hour tour and were very pleased with the driver (retired fireman) and the history and details he provided about Martha's Vineyard as well as what its like to live there year round. The meeting point at Oak Bluffs was well communicated and they were easy to find right opposite the Ferry landing. You are provided with a bathroom break and opportunity to grab some fresh clam chowder or lobster bisque mid way through the tour and get out of the bus/van 2 times along the way. We were interested in going back to Edgartown which was the last town of the six we viewed, we later learned from our driver that we could have asked to be dropped off there and saved the bus ride back. Overall, we enjoyed the time, covered lots of sights and material that we would not have learned wandering around on our own.
