The view was spectacular. It is something that you could never see from any of the rims.

Amazing experience!! Really professional organisation and flying operation. The pilot was informative and entertaining. After a few minutes flying over the forest the feel of being launched across a 3000ft drop and over the canyon was incredible. As we toured around the pilot pointed out various highlights, including a herd of Buffalo as we flew briefly over the North Rim. The view from the air is absolutely the best place to see the Colorado River as it's not actually visible from many places along either rim. After we landed the pilot was happy to take photos of couples / groups etc by the plane with our own cameras. This meant we didn't have to buy the official photograph, although if you do want that one with the pilot in a souvenir frame then it's a reasonable price. They also video the flight looking down onto the canyon and include all voice communications, which you can purchase separately or as a package with the photo for around 50.

My only niggle?.. well when you check in they weigh you and the computer then assigns your position in the helicopter based on an even weight distribution - there are 7 seats plus pilot, with 3 next to him and 4 in the rear this computer put me in the center-right rear seat, which is where there is least headroom and being 6ft 3 I found it pretty uncomfortable with the headset on, and had to slouch forward in the chair. Some consideration of height as well as weight distribution would have got them the extra star.

This was the first time I had been in a helicopter and to be honest I was not looking forward to it, but my other half wanted to do this. Maverick Helicopters were well organised and we took off 15 mins before our allotted time. The pilot Tyler explained everything to us beforehand and was very informative during the flight which was amazing as you would imagine. I was put completely at ease and would definitely do this again
