A must if you're in the city. It is beautiful on the outside and the museum was very interesting to walk through and read about that horrific day in history. The volunteers you see around are very knowledgeable and nice. Ask them anything and they seem to know it all. We stood and talked to one of the ladies for probably thirty minutes. One second you will be tearing up the next you are angry as hell remembering and seeing what our country went through. Highly recommend seeing at least once.

We are old enough to be able to recall where we were the day that this tragedy happened and can remember the televised new reports that we watched not really believing what we were witnessing. This is such a respectful and fitting tribute to the people who lost their lives as well as all the survivors. On arrival we didn't have to queue and we were able to purchase tickets on the morning. It was recommended to us to purchase the headsets so we could listen to the commentary while walking around the museum. This was easy to use and so worth the extra $10 dollars we paid for each headset as it provided so much more information than you get by just walking round and reading the information provided on each exhibit. We learnt so much about that day which we had no idea about in particular about the boat men ferrying people from the island to safety which is an amazing story to hear about especially in light of the devastation . We thought we knew about the event and how it unfolded but there are so many other aspects that were not told about. Be prepared it's very emotional and moving. We were told it takes around 1.5 hours to see but we spent 3.5 hours here and could have stayed longer as we still didn't see it all but felt we were a little overloaded by this time we left. Its one of the most thought provoking museums we have ever been to as this is something that happened in our lifetime and evoked memories of the experience even though we were thousands of miles away in the UK. For the rest of our trip we talked between us about the events of the day and what effect it must have had on the people of New York as well as the rest of the world, it really did make us think about the repercussions and how it must have felt to be in Manhattan and the surrounding area as both a resident, a worker and a tourist We also visited the memorial pools afterwards and found this to be such a peaceful place to respect the memories of those who lost their lives. So touching and emotional to see all the names of the fallen and also the white roses next to the names of anyone who had a birthday on that day. So very moving and a very fitting tribute An absolute must to visit to respect what the people of NYC experienced and about the resilience of so many ordinary people.

We visited the Memorial we didn’t know what to expect. However, nothing prepares you for the poignant reminders of human lives lost in this exhibit. Visitors are taken through the history of the World Trade Centre from the top of the exhibit, gravitating down to the centre. In the centre of the exhibit is a glassed off area which covers what happened on 9/11 with items recovered linked to the stories of those who witnessed, lived and sought to rescue/provide aid in the aftermath. There are signs throughout stating that if this experience becomes overwhelming/upsetting then you are free to take time outside. Outside of the glassed off area visitors can learn about the aftermath of 9/11, not just emotionally but physically as well. Visitors to New York must visit the Memorial Museum
