Visit the only place in the world that the Amish and Mennonite communities come to vacation en masse and learn about their culture with your tour guide. On this tour, the goal is to create a “bridge of understanding” about these wonderfully unique and close-knit communities. You will learn about the history of their religious beliefs, values, traditions and practices of daily life. Visit Pinecraft, where 500+ Amish and Mennonite families live year-round and where 5,000+ return each season from Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana to vacation. Enjoy stops at Alma Sue’s Quilt Shop, The Carlisle Inn and Der Dutchman for shopping and a delicious pie shooter! Gain a new appreciation of the rich culture on this Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence-rated tour. *During April there may be variations of the tour because typically many of our Amish tourists have returned home, therefore we may visit a local Amish furniture maker to learn about carpentry and its importance to their culture.

We were noticing several Amish and Mennonite people in Sarasota. Our girls kept asking us questions about them (and we didn’t know the answers😁) so we booked the tour. Kendra Scott, our tour guide, was awesome. We came away with a greater understanding and appreciation for the Amish community. In addition to understanding of the differences between Amish and Menanite and why there are so many from their community here in Sarasota 😁.

I am also from MN and was also so interested in the Amish which, is why I created the tour with Kendra. So happy you and your girls enjoyed it.

First, I have to thank Kendra, Siggy, and my fellow travelers for being kind enough to wait for me to arrive after being delayed enroute by traffic caused by an accident. I am so glad I didn't miss this tour of Pinecraft. The Amish community has a long history in Sarasota, and they have kept strong in their beliefs and culture. Small concrete block homes with neat as a pin yards, 3-wheeled bikes for transportation, yummy restaurants with bakeries and gift shops, quilt and furniture makers, and fresh produce stands make up the setting. Kendra provided the long history of the Amish. It was very educational and gave me new respect and understanding for them.

Kendra is a perfect tour guide - informative, entertaining and enthusiastic - and has a personal Amish connection. The pick-up site for Discover Sarasota Tours is convenient with plenty of parking. The Amish community is fascinating, but since I had been to the gift shop and beautiful hotel before, I was disappointed that we couldn't visit with some Amish people. However, I understand they would feel on display which would not be appropriate for their culture.
