Anchorage Aurora Quest - Visite photo des aurores boréales

Aperçu
This is the longest-running northern lights photo tour in the Anchorage area. We pick you up at your Anchorage accommodations and take you on a nocturnal adventure to witness the beauty of the Alaskan night sky. It's a great option for any travelers to Alaska during August to late April. This tour accommodates serious photographers to sightseers.

We conduct a daily update that includes both the aurora borealis and weather forecast. The tour runs based on that forecast, but runs only if the forecast indicates a chance of seeing the aurora. Because both weather and the aurora borealis are natural phenomena, we cannot guarantee seeing the northern lights.

This tour increases your chance of aurora viewing success by allowing you to reserve as many nights as you like [space available] and only finalizing payment 48 hours in advance under the Reserve Now & Pay Later system. If you do not see the northern lights during your tour, you get a free make-up tour.

Our guide was awesome. He had a lot of knowledge and was happy to share. Only problem was the lights didn’t really come out that much. Hoping on the pics he took we will see something. AND it was -26 degrees for the entire night!!?!?! Not on them though. Had fun and would do it again. Thank you!

Hi. Thank you so much for letting us know you enjoyed the tour despite the cold, and that Ben took such good care of you. On the next night, our tour experienced -34. We've had a solid week or so of really cold weather! We hope to see you again on another aurora-chasing adventure!

During our tour, we missed visiting two “potential” stops mentioned in the description, and unfortunately, we didn't witness the aurora. It seems Anchorage might not be the best location for aurora viewing, which was a key interest for us. However, the hot cocoa and cider provided were enjoyable.

Hi. We are sad you did not see the northern lights, either. Anchorage can be a good location; we have an 80% success rate in seeing the northern lights during our tours through the whole season. January, however, is one of the lowest months for aurora activity (based on a study of 75 years of aurora activity). That said, we also do not know which night you went (as your profile name does not match our records). The four tours that proceeded immediately prior to the date of your review were all successful in seeing the northern lights. As for the stops, we use four different routes, and where we go is dictated by the weather and aurora conditions in the field. I am glad that the guide took good care of you during the tour.

This an awesome group of knowledgeable photographers and even more talented handling people, equipment, and working to make the best possible opportunities to capture incredible photos. Carl is a military veteran like myself and enjoyable to talk to about the Anchorage history as well as photography. Ben and Colin were the guides for the night adventure. I lowered the rating because there was some confusion about the options in the package I selected, but I was fully refunded for not getting a rental camera. Ben and Colin made sure everyone in the tour had ample opportunity to see the lights and stay warm will doing so. I also do think that the time traveling could be adjusted and the amount of people per vehicle be adjusted so it is not as cramp. I am very thankful and grateful that I got to experience the Northern Lights and their beauty with a professional and thoughtful group. I would follow the advice of wearing layers from the company website. I also recommend contacting them if you are a novice photographer like myself in order to get set up correctly and able to capture your time with the Northern Lights. Definitely worth the price, time, and effort!!

I am very sorry for the mixup that led to you not getting a rental camera for your northern lights tour. While we would certainly rather have shorter driving times to go to aurora viewing locations, we sometimes have to go farther when the cloud cover dictates. We do have a maximum distance we will drive and not exceed; some other tour operators have been known to drive as many as four hours one-way to viewing locations. I am happy that you otherwise enjoyed the tours and the experiences we provided you. I greatly appreciate the detailed feedback.
