I was in town while my spouse attended a conference, so I needed an activity I could do on my own. I decided to choose something that would sneak in some exercise too, to balance out the bajillion tacos I knew I'd be eating. This bike tour was the perfect choice! Our guide, Trey, was warm, helpful, and supremely knowledgeable about the city and its history. He made sure we were all comfortable on our bikes and that they were sized correctly, and he let us test ride them in the small (empty) parking lot across from the bike shop. I was nervous that we'd go too fast or that there'd be hills I couldn't handle, but it was all relatively easy—and super fun. It was a windy day, which added a bit of resistance at points, but also made for a delightful April ride. We did go onto the dirt path around Lady Bird Lake and over a few mildly rocky sections of path/road, but as a relatively un-athletic almost-40-year-old, I handled everything just fine. Trey took care of all the safety stuff: signaling, when to stop/go, and making sure cars let us pass. This was such a fun way to see all over downtown Austin!
