This tour was definitely conducted by a man that did hours of research before getting in the bus. He took us to see bands that I, as a local, will now be going to see for many years to come. He delightfully switched the type of music we listened to from jazz to swing to country, and all the bands were ones he loved. The information was the perfect mix of short and sweet but with genuine knowledge about Austin.

Our tour guide, Sunny, was very informative and made the history of the live music city so lively. The genres of the 3 spots were distinctive. The musicians were playing great.

I was at a conference and knew I wanted to experience some of Austin's live music venues, but didn't have time to research who was playing where. I was excited to see that this Live Music Crawl started at my hotel lobby (the downtown Hilton). That night's gathering was split into 2 groups. I was in Steven's group and he drove us in a nice Mercedes van to 3 venues. Along the way he answered questions and pointed out landmarks. We first visited The Elephant Room where a jazz group was playing, then we visited The White Horse for country music and dancing, and ended our 3 hour tour at the Saxon Pub where John Nielson and others were performing. All of these venues were crowded as it was a Friday night plus a home U of Texas football weekend, so it was great that the tour organizers had reserved our seats at the Saxon Pub. This tour was well worth it for the convenience and overview of Austin's music scene it provided. Steven was a great guide and driver, a performer himself, so very knowledgeable and personable.
