We had a few hours to kill before we had to head off to Anchorage so we stopped into Chugach Adventures to learn more about their rafting trips. We ended up going with a package that included a bagged lunch, a trip to the Wildlife Conservancy and train ride to raft around the icebergs at Spencer Glacier. Our guide was Erin and we had such a good time. She told us all about the animals at the Conservancy, she even knew most of the animals by name. She was very knowledgeable about Spencer Glacier, the icebergs and about the vegetation that grows in the area. The guides pretty much do all of the work during this trip -we were pretty tired from hiking and biking for 10 days, so this was the perfect ending to our vacation!

We checked in for the adventure in Portage train station where we where given our boots to wear. Then it was a short Alaska train ride to Spencer whistle stop. A short bus ride then a short walk to see the glacier and the icebergs and some photo ops. We were given the safety instructions, donned life vests then Molly our guide rowed the raft for us to see the icebergs up close. We even had the chance to touch it! What an experience! Then on to Placer River for the easy ride with some rapids that made the trip a lot of fun. I think our group had the most laughter and fun compared to others thanks to our guide.

This was a great experience. A tour guide got off the train, greeted us, and helped us on the train. We received rubber boots and enjoyed the gorgeous views. We got to the glacier and were rowed up to an iceburg to touch it. The next 2 hours were filled with breathtaking views and fun rafting.
