This walking tour led by Captain Bryan is not your average "sit there and shut up" tour where the guide won't even remember you. Rather, after brief introduction, Captain Bryan will lead you on a historic journey of how Shem Creek came to prominence with its famous shrimping fleet and much more. Unlike any other tour in the area, guest have the ability to see the industry at work. Perhaps the group will meet Mr. Rector at Geechie Seafood with his several shrimp boats, beautiful reminders of the bountiful harvest to be conducted offshore. This is not a tour, it is an experience to immerse yourself in the Shem Culture. Take back history, culture, language, snacks, but most of all guests will take from this experience an underlying appreciation for our local shrimpers and the history behind these hard working men and women.

We enjoyed the walking Shem Creek tour. It was informative and interesting from the old town history to the shrimping business. Moved at a comfortable pace and Captain Bryan was friendly and knowledgeable. Would recommend if you want a unique tour that’s different from the downtown Charleston tours.

Captain Bryan was an excellent tour guide, we had fun learning about Shem Creek and the history and shrimping industry. Bryan knows a ton about the region, and he made our tour fun, interesting, and very enjoyable! Would definitely recommend.

Captain Brian gave an informative & entertaining tour. He was very knowledgeable and able to answer all the questions I had. I enjoyed the shrimping part, too, and had the best key lime pie I’ve ever eaten! Highly recommend if you’ll be visiting the area!
