We traveled with young kids and our parents who can’t walk long distances so we thought this would be a great idea to see the city! In theory, it is excellent! You can get on and off at the various popular attractions and catch the next bus to continue on the route. Also tour guides give good info while traveling.
HOWEVER, the buses are supposed to run every 15-17 minutes and that’s definitely not true. They bunch up in traffic and you will wait longer at certain stops (navy pier, Maggie daly for example) Also, the inside part of the bus has no air conditioning. It was scorching hot on the inside (and crowded with no seats available up top). Also, a few times, the bus stopped and waited at the location for people to get on, which was annoying because it was hot and we wanted to get onto our destinations. If you are in a hurry or like to move quickly, this is not the best option for you.
If you choose to do this, buy the passes through Groupon, because you’ll get a better deal.

Hello 107beckym,
First, thank you very much for your feedback, we appreciate all comments.
We are glad to hear you enjoyed your time while on the bus taking the tour. We would also like to apologize for your recent experience and are sorry to hear that you were less than satisfied with the timing of the buses as well as seating availability. We do agree that it is unacceptable to wait for long periods of time, especially in the heat, and again we do apologize. We try our best to navigate the traffic and maintain our time, so that customers will have the opportunity to hop off and allow others to hop on with ease, although sometimes things happen along the way that may tie a bus up and it is out of our direct control.
However, we will continue to work on this and we do hope you will give us another Hop-On in the future.
Kind Regards,
The Big Bus Chicago Team
