Interesting tour that did a very good job of highlighting older and more modern history of the city. Seeing as how 40% of the slave trade passed through the port, we felt a little more time could have been spent discussing how that built the foundation of the town and surrounding area. We understand that it is a difficult subject but it is one that deserves more than, at best, five minutes in a two hour tour. This is not an indictment of our guide, he was great. It is really more of a cultural thing. I am certain that people in the South are tired of rehashing this. But it was an incredibly important part of history that tends to be overlooked. We heard lots about the powerful, rich, and colorful white residents. Not one name of one person of color. Still, I would take this tour again in a heartbeat.
