This 2-hour introductory paddle on the Edge of America will get you into the basics of SUP, all in the calm flatwater of the Folly River. All safaris begin with "ground school" or SUP instructions with your Lifeguard Certified Instructors. We'll explore alongside the numerous beautiful native birds and bottlenose dolphins. We'll go with the flow, following the tides and wind direction for a great beginning paddle. At low tide we visit a private beach and go for a swim!

Group photo is taken at the end of the tour, which will be posted on our social media pages.

My husband and I had been wanting to Try SUP for a while, and we are so glad we booked a lesson here for our first time! Our guide Eric was super helpful and did a great job of teaching us the basics in an entertaining way! They had places to leave our bikes and bags while we were on our tour, and bottled water and sunscreen for sale on site. We had a blast and two hours flew by, we wished we had more time on our trip to do it again the next day! We saw quite a few dolphins while we were out! Eric took lots of pics for us! One person in our group decided SUP wasn't for her after the lesson was over, bc she had complications with her knees, and Eric and the crew immediately got her into a kayak and she was able to continue on with our group! Impressive customer service! Definitely put charleston SUP safaris on your list of things to do while in charleston/folly area, there are other companies out there, but you WON'T be disappointed with these guys! Thanks for a great experience!

John and SUP Safaris were amazing! We took the sunset tour as part of a bachelorette party. We had some first time and more experienced paddleboarders and he was able to make it fun for all of us! I definitely recommend for anyone looking for a unique experience in Charleston/Folly Beach!

I've been paddling with Charleston SUP Safaris twice, and both trips were fantastic. The first was an afternoon tour the year the company opened for business; it was just two of my girlfriends, Jon, and me, and we had a great time chatting about the aquatic ecosystem around us and life in general. I enjoyed it enough that, when my boyfriend and three other couples vacationed in Isle of Palms in May 2013, I insisted we incorporate a SUP trip into our plans. This time we did a sunset tour with a few other paddlers. The time of day was ideal for spotting dolphins! When one of our friends accidentally cut her foot on an oyster shell, Jon went into EMS mode, thoroughly cleaning and bandaging the wound to prevent infection. The whole Charleston SUP Safaris team is fun and very well trained. I also love that they take photos during the paddling trips and post them on Facebook shortly afterward... a nice touch. :)
