Great to see another side to New York from a different perspective and this is one of the ways of doing it. This cruise was good but cannot say it was the best one to be on if you are specifically going on it to see the Statue of Liberty, We did manage to see it but the heavy tides meant the boat could not get as close as I would have liked it to be but be prepared as it gets windy out there.

Staff friendly, live guide's commentary is very basic, very repetitive...Eat before you reach pier, no food options available nearby Pier 83...very limited food options available on boat ( hot dogs $4.50, potato chips $3.00, 16oz. can of beer $9.50) and very expensive ...Boat route runs south to Statue of Liberty , makes a u-turn , and then directly north up Hutson River back to 42nd Street pier..

We absolutely loved this cruise. If we were to recommend one thing to do in NYC it would be this. The views were amazing but what really made it was the tour guide (ours was David) - he was informative, funny, knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions anyone had. We learned loads about the history of New York, The Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the bridges over the East River... and everything else! We also learned about things that are going on in New York now (as well as its history). We sat outside on the top deck which was great. They ask people not to stand around the top deck, other than temporarily to take a picture or two, so that everyone can see - which is great and makes having a good seat well worth it. I’d recommend getting there an hour early to get a good seat. I’d also recommend taking a light jacket as it got a little chilly out on the river at this time of day/year. All in all a great trip that we would recommend to anyone.
