We took the ‘Liberty’ cruise during our recent visit to New York and had an excellent experience. We walked to Pier 83 from our hotel which took about 30 minutes (Lexington Avenue) on a bitterly cold morning, but on entering the boat it was lovely and warm. We upgraded to premier seating which was in the front rows of the second floor (Premier seating is in a roped off area with a server offering full bar service, sandwiches and snacks). Once the boat set sail we headed down the Hudson towards the Statue of Liberty and back to pier 83 passing various sights which included Ellis Island, One World trade centre, World financial centre, Empire State building, Titanic pier and Battery park to name a few. The tour guide was excellent explaining all sights we were passing and teaching us about the history of the Hudson. The tour time on the boat was one hour. I would recommend this trip as a great way to see the sights and learn about New York from a different perspective (the Manhattan view was spectacular) definitely a must do on any New York itinerary.
