We always ensure to do a hop-on hop-off bus tour not matter where in the World we are. It's a guaranteed way of getting to know the City you are in in a couple of hours - it allows us to forward plan the rest of our stay in a new City. We've possibly completed 25-30 hop-on hop-off tours to date. However, this one was very disappointing. It started really well with a fun lively tour guide, but due to the tickets we bought on trip advisor not working, we had to get off the bus at the main office to rectify. We boarded a new bus tour and that's when things went bad. The tour guide rumbled his narrative as if on autopilot, reiterating for us not to stand on the bus. We were sat at the back of the bus on the top deck and could not hear a word he was saying. We tried to get his attention with no luck, we could not approach him as we were not allowed to stand, and no one was getting on or off any of the stops. When we eventually stopped (5 stops in!) I asked him to increase the volume of his mic, he made many excuses why he could not do this and that the problem was not him or his kit, it was the 'old' bus noise and "that is the problem when you sit upstairs." Just to reiterate, we were not sat on the bus for a drive round New Orleans!
