Cette excursion consiste à trouver les meilleurs endroits pour les lamantins et à utiliser nos kayaks transparents pour vous offrir la meilleure vue possible sans vous mouiller ! Crystal River est connue comme la «capitale mondiale des lamantins». Lors de cette visite, nous voulons que nos invités découvrent les lamantins dans leur habitat naturel. Crystal River est alimentée par des dizaines de sources naturelles, ce qui en fait un point chaud pendant les mois « les plus froids » de la Floride. Entre novembre et mars, des centaines de lamantins migrent vers les sources pour chercher refuge et rester au chaud. Nous ne pouvons pas contrôler où ils pourraient se trouver dans la région, mais nos guides expérimentés vous emmèneront là où ils sont le plus actifs ! Alors que les lamantins sont notre objectif principal de cette visite, nous voyons souvent des dauphins, des poissons, des tortues, des oiseaux et bien plus encore ! Let me start this by saying I have been looking forward to doing a kayaking trip with manatees for about four years. I’m sad to say this was incredibly disappointing. Granted, we went on a rainy day, so the water wasn’t clear, we were drenched and it was freezing. Our tour guide let us know he wasn’t one of the normal guides, he had just been hired during Covid so I’m definitely cutting him a little slack, however... he left us! He did his best to keep the tour interesting at first but when it was time to paddle back, he was gone. I was with a group of three adults and three children, and which one child was in each kayak. We were left to our own devices to find our way back, even though the path is not hard, I did find it irritating that he would just leave novice kayakers with small children behind . One of the parents even got lost on the way back and took a detour that made her trip even longer. Needless to say, it was exhausting paddling back against the wind in the rain, we thought since the tour wasn’t canceled that it wouldn’t be so bad but now we’ve learned our lesson. If it’s raining on your day, cancel your trip. It’s not worth it. On a bright note, we did spot a manatee on the way back. (I love those big sea cows.)

First of all, we are so sorry for your disappointing tour. That does NOT sound fun or what we wish our guests to experience at all. Rainy days are hard to navigate, not to mention the wind being a factor, so we understand how frustrating that could be. In order to improve, it would be helpful to know which tour you were on so we can adequately address this with our team. Our guides are trained to keep the tour together and adjust for weather challenges, so we will definitely bring this up in order to keep this from happening in the future. We had an amazing time and would definitely use Get Up and Go Kayaking again! Our guide was fantastic and the clear kayaks were perfect to see the Manatees. Some of the baby Manatees were curious about the kayaks and we were able to get some great photos of them looking into the kayak. This tour was the highlight of our trip.

Saw 20 Manatees but it is the season. It does not always happen! The water is less clear during hi tide but you can still find some clear water and see the springs. Social distancing was not needed you were naturally separated. Florida is amazing with getting life back to normal
