Crystal River
This tour is ALL about finding the best manatee spots and utilizing our clear kayaks to give you the best viewing possible without getting wet! Crystal River is known as the “Manatee Capital of the World.” On this tour, we want our guests to experience Manatees in their natural habitat. Crystal River is fed by dozens of natural springs, which makes it is a hotspot during Florida’s “colder” months. Between November and March, hundreds of manatees migrate inland to the springs to seek refuge and stay warm. We can’t control where they might be in the area, but our experienced guides will take you to where they are most active! While manatees are our main focus of this tour, we often see dolphins, fish, turtles, birds, and more! This 2-2.5 hour guided adventure includes a relaxed paddle through Kings Bay to Hunter Springs, Jurassic Springs, and beyond in Crystal River. Check this paddle off your manatee bucket list! We launch at Kings Bay Park located at: 268 NW 3rd St, Crystal River, FL 34428

Our guide must have been shy or didn't want to be there, kinda did his own thing. It was cold and windy with overcast sky's. We eere able to see 2 manatees, one up close under and beside the kayak. But my 80 yr old mother experienced kayaking for the first time and our guide was very helpful getting her in and out of the kayak.

Clear kayaks are a cool concept but they are uncomfortable for any strenuous paddling. Because they are currently launching from the Plantation marina, it's a non-trivial trip to get to the Three Sisters spring where the manatees typically hang out. There are no footrests in the clear kayaks, so paddling is not very easy, particularly with any wind. I don't fault them for the wind or the limited manatees the day we went, but the guide didn't do much guiding. He was a pleasant, friendly guy but all he did was lead us there and make sure the beginners in our group weren't left behind. For the price, I'd have expected a little more of an experience. I might go again, but I'd want to make sure it was a calm day or have better kayaks.

Hey, Peter! Thank you for this feedback! The Port Hotel and Marina is our new launch location this year and we are definitely adjusting based on each tour. We are in the windy season for sure and that does have an effect on the overall experience. Shoot us an email if you would like to give it another shot and we would be happy to give you a discount! Our guide was Josh. He knew all the places to find Manatees. We saw at least a couple of dozen manatees and had a beautiful trip on King’s Bay. We’re so happy we went!!
