Established in 1999, Encounters With Dolphins has been safely providing guests the opportunity to view dolphins, learn about Clearwater and enjoy the sand and sun on Compass Island and maybe even take a dip on the island! We are a small business founded on the principal of wanting our guests to have the same experiences we would want to have on our own vacation. We’re also proud of the fact that almost all of our staff are either marine biologist, conservationist or experts in marine wildlife. All of us work tirelessly to ensure that all of our customers have an enjoyable and relaxing time with us!

Who doesn't want to see dolphins? And seeing them in the wild? Once they popped out of the waves of the boat, yes, I cried. Do not miss this tour! The boat crew was friendly and helpful. They sought dolphin pods, but didn't disrupt their activities. The tour guide had a wealth of information about dolphins and their behaviors in the wild. She showed us how she could identify various dolphins who frequent the area (by their dorsal fins). She showed us a pod that was nurturing babies. She told us about the behavior of male vs female dolphins. And she sprinkled humor in with the facts. (Male dolphins are a hoot.... they like to gather at the sand bar.) She also had informative tidbits about the Clearwater area... history, purpose, celebrity homes. We saw many dolphins. At one point, we paired with another tour boat to create a large wake that the dolphins played in. This excursion was a high-point of our week in Clearwater.

This was a wonderful experience for my children and I. The customer service from this company is impeccable, and everyone is so welcoming and friendly. We were able to see dolphins, and manatees, and a beautiful sunset. Going to the small island was a great treat as well, my daughter got to hunt for “gold treasures,” and it brought so much joy. This was a perfect Saturday experience. I’d definitely recommend the tour.
