Road to Hana Tours

In just 5-6 hours one can experience a great variety of attraction on this glorified road. View the north shore, surfers and waves. Visit Rainbow Eucalyptus trees and Bamboo thickets. Explore a native Hawaiian village and coastal tide pools. Walk amongst the rainforest's flora and fauna. Jump into a pool with a cascading waterfall (swimming optional). Enjoy home made banana bread and other local treats. This excursion is perfect for those who seek a half day time frame or have young children in their group. It would be our pleasure to guide you!

My husband, I and our 8-year-old daughter were extremely fortunate to have Gus as our guide on one of our favorite days in Maui. I was worried that our daughter would get restless in the car, or tune out, but Gus helped keep her very engaged and she was really interested in all of the information he shared about Maui. He shared so much information about the history of the island, its diverse peoples, the plants and animals - he is a terrific teacher! He skipped stops that were too crowded, or where the effort for our family might not pay off, but we stopped at plenty of stunning sites and got to meet some really wonderful local artists and merchants. I really appreciated how he kept checking in with us to see how we were doing throughout the day. We saw stunning waterfalls, and Gus even helped us wade safely into the chilly waters. We especially enjoyed the stunning beaches we visited, an amazing lava cave, and two beautiful waterfalls. Gus also recommended a hike to La Perousse for us to try, which we did the next day and loved. I would give this tour, and Gus in particular, my highest recommendation - it’s an expensive day, but more than worth every penny!

Our guide, Gus, could not have been kinder and more knowledgeable about Maui's history and culture. It was just two of us so we customized our stops...we saw beautiful waterfalls, historic churches alive with local culture, met many of the peaceful, generous locals. The black sand beaches were breathtakingly beautiful as were the caves and all of the glorious vegetation! The stop for warm banana bread at a roadside stand was not to be missed. The extra cost is worth it to be able to take your time on the things you most want to visit. Highly recommend this company!

5 of us traveled with Gus along the beautiful road to Hana on our first day in Maui, and this experience exceeded all expectations. We were an adult family group of 5, including a 91year old great grandmother with some mobility issues, and Gus enthusiastically worked to personalize this tour to suit all of us. From picking us up at the Norwegian ship, to giving us historical background information in his comfortable van, to showing us sights and stopping to observe surfers, wild volcanic beaches, waterfalls, colorful vegetation and wildlife, and beautiful vistas, to warm banana bread and lunch, we all felt that we came away with a deeper understanding and respect for Hawaii, and Maui. Driving with generous "aloha", Gus maneuvered the van so his elderly passenger could see from the window while the rest of us walked to waterfalls, etc. Thank you Holo Holo, for this wonderful trip!
