Nice 4 hour jeep ride to see the backcountry of Denali outside of the national park. We has 5 jeeps in our caravan. Jeeps are fairly new and well maintained. Automatic and AC. Fun excursion but not high on the priority list.

Not an off road trip. Most grandmas can handle it. PROS: comfortable newer jeeps with A/C! Knowledgeable guide, and beautiful scenery on the Denali highway. CONS: Too many jeeps on the tour (9). Would be much better with half that amount. Tour guide was too chatty. We couldn't talk in our jeep because he was talking over the radio non-stop. Also lots of whining kids on this trip. We paid too much money to listen to someone else's kids.

this jeep excursion was great!! It was NOT in the Denali National Park, but on Denali Highway, the original road to Denali. National Geographic called this the #2 drive of a lifetime!!! The jeeps were very comfortable, new, heavy suspended and linked to the guide jeep by radio. You get to drive the jeep yourself!! The road is packed gravel and very well maintained,- this is not a scramble/bone jarring 4 wheel drive excursion. It was very comfortable and the views were amazing!! Our tour leader Jeff, was great - very knowledgeable about Alaska, it's history, the history of the area and pretty much an expert in where to stop for overlooks and wildlife viewing. He had many stories to share which he could do while we were driving thru the 2-way radio and answer any questions we had and were able to ask while traveling. The Alaska Range is most awesome and it seemed we had this wilderness to ourselves - not a rat race road filled with tourists or buses.
