[The actual rating should be 3.5]. The negative reviews have it right in that this tour is primarily about the “big house” and the Destrehan family. Only a few pieces of the furniture are original, but the rest looks period appropriate. While the tour was nonetheless informative, it should be augmented by and contrasted with a tour of Whitney Plantation further up river, which focuses solely on the history of enslaved people.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and are glad you found the tour informative. While our tour highlights the Destrehan family and the plantation house, we also strive to present an equal focus on the lives of the enslaved people who lived and labored here. Our goal is to provide a balanced narrative that reflects the experiences of both the plantation’s owners and the enslaved community. We understand that each historic site offers a unique perspective, and we encourage visitors to explore multiple locations to gain a fuller understanding of the region’s history. Your feedback helps us continue to improve and ensure a comprehensive and meaningful experience. Thank you again for visiting—we hope to welcome you back in the future.
