Nowhere else in California can you drive your vehicle on a public beach, so take advantage of the unique opportunity to cruise down the scenic Pacific shoreline before you get to speed, zoom and zip your way along miles of Pismo's popular sand dunes. This 2-hour dune buggy experience includes all safety gear and instruction as well as a dunes support team to help you on your adventure if you get stuck or need assistance!

Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area

Rent your dune buggy in Oceano, just 5 minutes down the road from Pismo Beach, at your selected time. Get fitted with your gear and receive a safety orientation. You will then hop on our complimentary beach shuttle which will drive you a mile down the beach to the OHV staging area. Hop in the driver's seat or passenger's seat of your fully automatic, Big Paddle Tirer Dune Buggy and zoom off through the Oceano Dunes.

Once we got our ATVs we had fun and they worked well. However, we had to wait on the beach in the hot sun for 2.5 hours before they gave us our quads. Staff were super unorganized and they were serving people who arrived after us even though we had been waiting for hours. I recommend using another company such as Steve's ATV rental or BJs. Same location but probably won't make you wait for hours to get your ATVs.

Seriously. Top notch service. Great team, from the check in crew, to the shuttle bus, to the gent that got us oriented to our rig. Maps and directions and routes were clearly explained and the course was all very well marked, on the mile marker front, the restrooms are all numbered well. The ‘danger zones’ are all well mapped, although we manage to find them. And when we DID get stuck (dummies…), we received prompt assistance and we were back on our way. Equipment was kick-ass!

We used Viator to book the experience and had a great time. The only complaint was that it was supposed to come with a t-shirt and we didn’t get that.
