We are a family of three with a tween boy who visited the Big Island in July, 2019. As an advocate for keeping it local, we made reservations for the Big Island Beekeeping Tour. The Big Island Bee Farm is located in beautiful Captain Cook. We arrived early before our Beekeeping Tour reservation and spent time in the museum learning about bees and beekeeping and enjoyed samples of the different honeys. What makes this Bee Farm so special is the nectar is a single source from various locations around the island. They actually move the beehives around the island to where the blooms are, creating different varietals of honey. The grounds are lovely and relaxing and a nice place to chill while you are waiting for the Beekeeping Tour. My husband, who has always been afraid of bees, came away learning that bees are harmless and vital to our ecology. We were amazed at how gentle and respectful the beekeeper was with the beehives during her demonstrations. If you are interested in local farms, please visit Big Island Bees. Take a few moments to read their website, there are some fun and interesting facts about bees before your visit.

Aloha, Pamela, and thank you for visiting and taking the time to write such a marvelous review. We appreciate it very much, as will our staff.
And great to hear your husband is less fearful of bees as a result of his visit!
We hope you will come to see us again on your next trip to the Big Island.
Mahalo,
Phil
