I am a middle school teacher from Mobile, Alabama. I have taken my students to Selma, Alabama to participate in the F.D. Reese Historical tour with Alan and Marvin Reese. These are F.D. Reese's grandsons. The provide a real living history of the civil rights movement and will keep you on the edge of your seat as they make F.D. Reese's story and involvement with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., SCLC, John Lewis, SNCC, and others come to life as you visit these places. The Reese homeplace is a treasure and you will travel back in time and feel as if you are sitting with F.D. Reese and his sweet wife, Alline, as they met in secret with the Courageous Eight to plan marches in Selma. You will see the home where these meetings took place along with the porch that was fire-bombed. They will show you primary sources from F.D. Reese's personal collection including letters, telegrams, and photographs from many historical people. I highly recommend reading Selma's Self-Sacrifice before you go. It will really make this tour a special experience for you. Being able to walk across the Edmund Pettus Bridge with F.D. Reese's son, grandsons, and over a hundred of my students is by far one of the most powerful things I have ever experienced. I recommend this for couples, scholars, families, and even school groups!

Waited at the spot for about 15 minutes. No one showed up. Called the number and it no longer exists.

Living history. Alan Reese and Marvin Reese Jr. start at the family home of their grandfather F.D. Reese and explain his critical role as a teacher, pastor and civil rights leader "on the ground" as they tour you around key spots in Selma. Family stories abound about the coordination between Reese and folks like John Lewis and Martin Luther King around the watershed civil rights moments Bloody Sunday, the Edmund Pettus Bridge and the march from Selma to Montgomery in March 1965. Wow.
