First off, a big thank you to the lady working the gift shop. My wife and I traveled from KC (stopped for night in Des Moines). I over estimated our time of arrival at the Field of Dreams and realized we'd be an hour late after getting on the road, thus missing our scheduled tour time by nearly an hour. We arrived @1:30 and she let us take the 2:15 slot. This worked out great, not only did we got a half hour to walk the field and take pictures, but when we lined up for the tour we ended up being the only ones on that slot. Craig, our house tour guide, dressed in authentic White Sox uniform, made this trip worth-while in my opinion. His superior knowledge and personal attachment to the film was clearly evident during the tour. I liked the parts where the movie played on the TV and he's literally showing/telling us where the characters were in the home. He added a bunch of interesting details I didn't know from the quick research I did online. I highly recommend rewatching the film before you go if its been awhile, as Craig hits on specific scenes from the movie. They were fresh in my mind so I found those pieces more enjoyable. Also, bring your glove and ball! (cant believe I fogot it!) You might be able to join some folks playing for fun or just have a catch on the field. Notes for ground improvements: Porter potties were pretty nast, fix that. BIG ALSO HERE: Get hot dogs and soda!!!! T. Mann orders a hot dog and a beer at Fenway, understandable you can't server beer but man, hot dogs and soda would have been great. Maybe you've tried this before, idk, just wanted to share my 2 cents. Hope you all enjoy your trip here!! Go the distance!
