Our tour with Ted was the highlight of our visit to Boston. We booked the small party private tour and were so pleased with it. We had no desire to trudge around Boston with 30 other visitors straining to hear the guide and while I do enjoy downloading self guided tours on my phone from time to time neither my wife nor I felt the freedom trail was the right time for a canned recitation of facts on 16 historical, sites. So we opted for this tour and it worked out perfectly. We met our guide Ted (a history major and owner) and he made our tour a trip back in time to cover the seven years leading up to the start of the war. Fascinating and very compelling story explaining how the sites related to each other in a chronological fashion. Ted knows his history and was engaging and a delightful companion for a two hour stroll through historical Boston. We opted for the four o’clock tour which worked perfectly for a nice dinner in the North end, one tip. Make reservations! Even with a hundred restaurants they were packed on a Monday evening ! We capped off the tour with a lovely outdoor dinner at Panza right by the end of the tour! Highly recommend the tour!

Book this tour if you want a no-nonsense, fact-filled, historical stroll through Boston. With a narrow focus on why and how the little town of Boston tired of British rule (taxation without representation) and tyranny in the 8 years leading up to the start of the Revolutionary War, this tour keeps you pulled in and you find yourself emotionally vested in the plight of the leaders of the Sons of Liberty. Ted is a storyteller. He’s passionate and educated about his subject. All of the sites were closely interwoven with the short time span that the tour covered, and most offered a place for us to sit down in mostly shaded areas to enjoy the stories. Extra points for the laminated photos that helped the story flow too. Side note: I brought my two teens currently enrolled in IB US History; they felt the tour gave them an up-close and personal perspective of the textbook material they are learning. Ted, you impressed two16-year-old girls who are still talking about the tour!! Thank you from all of us for a great experience.

Thank you, Maribeth—I sincerely appreciate you writing such a generous testimonial. Boston's role in leading the American colonies toward revolution is unparalleled, and I feel exceptionally lucky to have the Freedom Trail as an outdoor classroom! On our history tours, the goal is always to bring to life the stories of colonial Boston through chronological narrative, using primary sources and direct quotes. It's so rewarding to hear your tour accomplished just that! I hope Abigail's incisive words continue to inspire you and your family.

There was a lot of historical information on this tour. The pace was fairly fast, and our guide was great. Unfortuanely, the graveyards close at 4:30 so you cannot go inside them on this evening tour.. but still a great tour. The North End was very busy at that time of the evening (Sat evening).

Thank you for supporting our small business and writing this 5-star review, Laura! We try to fit all the history we can into our 2-hour evening walk along the Freedom Trail, but without turning the experience into a marathon sprint.
