We brought our kids ages 7 & 8 and they LOVED it. Our guide Doug was so knowledgable and nice. We followed in our own car because we weren't sure how long the kids would last. There was a major rain storm as we began (and naturally Mom left the rain gear back at the house!). Our guide checked with us numerous times to make sure we wanted to go on. We just popped into the National Park visitor center and bought some ponchos - perfect. The walk into the cypress dome was really cool and we were educated on the ecosystem, flora and fauna. Seeing the alligator hole was cool too. Disclaimer: We went in April at the end of dry season. I don't know if I would have enjoyed it as much if I had to wade into water where there are alligators. The guides ensure you are safe. My personal favorite part was the stop to see the migratory birds. It was a scene out of National Geographic. Really amazing. The husband and kids favorite was kayaking through the mangroves with the alligators and 1 (vry lrge) crocodile (our guide couldn't contain his excitement as he hadn't seen him in a while). We saw so many we lost count. It was so cool to see them in their natural habitat and to have the guide to explain things and answer questions. You get really close to them but again our guide Doug made sure we were safe. There were lots of fish around too and Doug commented early on that one may jump into a kayak before the day ended. My 8yo was the lucky winner there. It jumped out and and landed on his lap! There is a memory he'll have forever. We didn't do the evening kayak because the kids were tired but it was a great day and I am so glad we chose this tour. I felt like less of an invader thank if we did another type of tour. Plus we really got up close and personal with the gators.

Guided by Garl, my husband and I enjoyed his knowledge of all things Everglades. From vegetation, to wildlife, snakes and of course alligators. He was able to answer all our questions with grace (given the fact he surely has the same conversations every day) and impressive knowledge. It is easy to see he is passionate about what he does and about the Everglades. He makes you feel safe as he leads you through essentially his backyard (he is barefoot no less!), he is very aware and made us feel at ease with what was unfamiliar surroundings. Most importantly we saw a TON of wildlife from Barred Owls, a Manatee, several Alligators (most he has named), Kite birds and the list can go on. We were unable to go on the full day because of wind but, he definitely filled the day and it was well worth the trip! Lastly, "Robert Is Here" fruit stand is great! We were able to meet the family and they were awesome. Take the time to hear their story (its a good one!) and buy some fruit or a yummy shake!

Can't say enough about this day trip! Our guide Don was incredibly knowledgable about all aspects of the of the Everglades and introduced my wife and I to a world of flora and fauna that we never could have imagined otherwise. From an eye opening hike through a cypress dome, where we took time to observe everything from the gator who called it home to the flowering plants that grow on the cypress trees; to a freshwater paddle where we were able to get up close and personal with over a dozen gators, this trip was more enjoyable and educational than we imagined possible. Oh, and not to mention the local recommendations for food, drinks and night life were spot on. If you have a day available to spend in the Everglades, and are looking for a top notch experience, look no further than Garl's. Thanks a million guys!
