My husband and I went to Everglades with Garl on valentines day and I was nervous initially about being close to the wildlife as described in other reviews. But it turned out to be very safe and a very memorable day for both of us. We started out with a slogging hike through the waters of a cypress dome, it was super fun and informative. We saw snakes, owls, bladderworts and lots of other flora and fauna. We were knee length deep into water most of the hike and that made it super fun. We kayaked among mangoves at the Nine Mile Pond Trail, saw croczilla (pet name for their biggest crocodile), aligators (one was super close and very friendly). We also kayaked at Flemingo and watched beautiful sunset and the best part was kayaking back in moonlight. What better way to celebrate valentines than spending the day with new experiences and watching sunset together while enjoying white wine (Thanks Garl <3) and kayaking back in moonlight :) Just when we thought it cannot get better Garl enthusiastically took us to the Anhinga trail in the night, and I am so glad we did that in the night, as the experience was just so much more fun trying to find the flora and fauna in the orange/black light and looking at the lichen on trees, spotting aligators based on the reflection of orange light from their eyes! It was surreal and awesome!
