I made the full Day Everglades Tour on the beginning of the season, unless the water level was very high Garl created an amazing tour with any kind of adventure you could have in the park! We walked thru the almost hip-high water, exploring this unique eco-sytem while Garl explained us all the details about the situated flora and fauna. After that we did a gorgeous fresh-water kayak paddle thru the mangrove tunnels and watched crocodiles and alligators, they are hard to find, but Garl knows all the hidden spots, trust me. At the end we paddled in the salt-water along the shores of the Everglades where we saw sharks, manatees, different kind of fishes and beautiful birds like pelicans, fish eagles and pink birds a bit similar to flamingos but much more pink, I forgotten the name because there was so much to see, to explore and to learn from Garl. The salt-water paddle ended just right at sunset for a beautiful view out from the kayak (see picture). Once again thank you for this amazing tour Garl! - more fun than ever expected! I did the "full day" walk/kayak with Garl in November. Although we got off to a late start (tour was supposed to leave at 11 am, we only got into the park at 1 pm), each section of the tour was fantastic. Garl is super knowledgeable and I felt safe looking for alligators and other wildlife with him. Slogging through the swamp was fun but I wish I'd had a more accurate idea of what we were getting into before "diving in" (be sure to bring water shoes and be ready to get wet and dirty up to your thighs - use the pants provided), and slather on the DEET and/or wear the bug suit provided). The freshwater paddle was nice, though the wildlife was a bit sparse (apparently related to the water levels etc so not Garl's fault!). The saltwater paddle was the highlight, with lots of bird life to photograph as the sun went down; I'd have loved to spend way more time on this part, but it got dark. I'd give the tour 5 stars if it had been better described before we started and if it had left on time.

We are glad you had a great time on the trip, Neil! We apologize if the trip got off to a late start- though hiccups are rare, they occasionally do happen and we apologize for the inconvenience of it. If there's a way the trip could have been explained better on our website we would welcome the feedback! The website and most of the reviews here contain a pretty clear description of what is going to occur on the trip- slogging through water to the cypress domes, paddling in different environments, etc. We have water shoes for anyone who does not have some with them and mosquito repellant as well as mosquito suits for all (in case anyone is wondering about either) Again we appreciate the feedback and hope you had a great time! Your pictures are gorgeous, thanks for sharing them.

I booked a full day walking and kayaking tour, and the experience has been fantastic. Garl is a very friendly and entertaining guide. The tour consisted of four main events (1) A stunning walk in knee-deep water trough sawgrass and little forests. Garl picked the route based on the physical abilities of the group of guests – in my case this lead to a rather long walk which was very exciting. (2) A sweet water kayaking tour which was stunning. Travelling alone, one could very easily get lost on one the kayaking tracks, but with Garl (which seems to know every corner of the glades) you can completely relax and enjoy the nature (3) A salt water kayaking tour. This is a little less exotic than the other events, but also definitely worth doing. We saw a stunning sunset as well as loads of fish and birds. (4) A night walk in knee-deep water. The atmosphere out there in the dark was fascinating. During these four events, Garl answered every question we had and always tried to adjust the tour to our interests. It is an absolute must do for every traveller, which is a bit adventurous and fit enough for a day of walking and kayaking. Garl explained before the tour stated that during this time of the year it is rather unlikely to see a lot of wildlife. Indeed, we did not see as much as some may hope, but still saw a crocodile, lots of birds and fish, some small sharks, some alligators and more. Even though it seems to be very unpredictable at this time of the year where to find which animals, I can totally recommend doing the tour – the scenic views are stunning and Garls explanations are very interesting. Before the trip, you’ll receive an email with a list of things you have to bring. Make sure to follow it, and you’ll have everything you need. Garl takes stunning pictures, which you can buy afterwards. If you still want to bring your own camera, make sure it is waterproof.
