Our travel agent booked this all-day tour for us and didn't tell us that the company warns that if you should take the 4-hour tour if you are prone to sea-sickness. Heed the warning. That being said, it was a fabulous tour. The crew are all very knowledgeable and accessible. The captain modifies each cruise according to the weather, wildlife sightings, and passenger requests. You will learn about the geology, wildlife, and get to see at least one glacier close up. Because the seas were "calm" (tell that to my stomach) we got to enter a small lagoon with waterfalls that is usually inaccessible. Clouds obscured the vistas for much of the day, but it was still worth the trip.

Well run on a stormy day. One can wish for bright sun and calm ocean but I think that doesn't happen so very often. Our captain worked constantly to show us the sights while keeping us safe. We did make it to the face of the glacier which was spectacular. Also saw interesting islands along the way. There was some concern before we reached the open ocean part as to whether we would be able to continue but we got a break in the winds and did so and I felt very safe. Recommend.

Overall, it was a great day, only thing that could have made it better was the weather, but that is out of their control. It was overcast all day and the wind was cold, but 3/4 of the day was dry. Waves were a little rough going out but had calmed down by the return trip. It sounded like we had the best weather that day that they've had in weeks, even had to cancel the day before. I highly recommend that you get a table inside, on the front of the boat, so you can be comfortable while cruising between the sights. We would have been miserable upstairs, as there is only bench seating and it was open-air. It was much easier to move about and check out the views on all sides on the first floor. ** Tip - the best spot on the boat was on the rear of the first floor. There are covered areas on both sides of the steps where 2-3 people can stand and take in the view that are out of the wind and rain. Wind was very strong on the front of the boat. Staff was VERY friendly and helpful with all questions. They continuously checked on everyone to make sure they were comfortable and help those who were seaside. I took a dramamine before the cruise and had no issues. Captain did a great job on the narration and navigating the boat as smoothly as possible in the conditions. Included lunch was OK, nothing great, wish there were low carb options available. There are some snacks available, but best to bring your own. On the way back they prepared drinks with glacier ice. We were fortunate to see a glacier calving and also saw lots of wildlife. We saw seals and sea lions, and an assortment of birds including eagles, gulls, kittiwakes, cormorants, and puffins. On the way back, we were extra fortunate to see 2 humpback whales, an unexpected surprise! Trip was almost too long, and the wind and trying to steady yourself tired you out, but you saw much more scenery and wildlife than you would have on their shorter cruises. I advise taking the full day cruise if at all possible.
