We took a 3 day trip last year on the Snake River and loved it. We followed it up with the 6 day Main Salmon trip this month, which included a night in the wilderness lodge. From the initial emails with office staff to the pre-trip meeting conducted by leader Fred Taylor, we got the feeling that we were in good hands. The trek via small plane and bus to the put in point went well and everyone was excited to get started. Once on the river we met and had an opportunity to meet the raft guides, who proved to be professional and capable on the oars as well as engaging personalities. Each were very different, and it was great to get to know all of them. Over the 6 days on the water and in camp each evening Fred, Tim, Zach, Duds, Maddie, Shaggy, and Tom kept us well fed, as comfortable as possible, and safe on the river. I already miss the rapids, water fights, and insights on how to read the river. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone who loves to be out in nature and likes to eat! The river and canyon walls were beautiful, with sightings of bear, golden eagles, bald eagles, osprey, and deer a bonus. Meals were amazing and included a seared Ahi Tuna appetizer after 3 days on the river! This is a top notch company with a top notch crew.

Spent the day rafting with my wife and 3 adult kids. Tyler was our guide and was awesome!! My wife was pretty nervous heading into our first whitewater rafting trip and she left loving it, all thanks to Tyler!! He was patient, kind and entertaining- In fact all 3 guides were fantastic. I'm ready to go again, and will earlier in the season at high water. Beautiful place and people.

I really want to rate this outfit well but they missed out on some important stuff. 1. On a 5 day trip the forgot the family tent for us even though I called twice. 2. On the 5 day trip they forgot one of our passengers in mcall so we lost most of our first day and had very few stops the next few days making up those days. 3. On a half day trip they brought the 2 double kayaks for my family but didn’t bring enough helmets and kayak paddles. Who brings a double kayak but no helmet or paddle. In both cases the guides blamed the manifest for the lost gear and the airline for the lost customers. When I talked to them at the office, they didn’t care. That is honestly the worst part. We spent 12k with these guys and didn’t get all of the trips we paid for. I’m forced to assume that Mountain River Outfitters will take your money and doesn’t care after that.
