We have been on a couple different rafting trips before and this one was by FAR the BEST! We went at the end of May because we wanted to hit some bigger rapids but we weren't sure how it would go because it isn't exactly hot weather yet. We were a little scared that it would be cold but we went anyway... and we are SO GLAD we did! We will go at this time of year EVERY YEAR now!
They suited us up in wetsuits AND drysuit jackets and pants and when we launched we were nice and toasty. When we were going through the big rapids our faces and hands would be cold for maybe 2 minutes before we were dry and warmed up again. They outfitted us very appropriately and we were very comfortable the entire trip.
We had an amazing guide (Elisabeth) who was energetic, funny, and knowledgeable of the area. It was fun hearing all the different facts about the river and the surrounding areas. We couldn't have asked for a better guide! We also had Tyler and Michelle along with us who would also be excellent guides to go with!
For lunch, I was expecting soggy hoagie sandwiches and stale potato chips (like most places who provide lunch with their days trips) but we were pleasantly surprised with a GREAT, filling lunch! They provided delicious chicken Caesar wraps with a homemade pasta salad, fresh veggies, fruit, and drinks.. not to mention AWESOME homemade cookies. There was more than enough food and we were all pleasantly full by the time we got back on the raft (which is a great feeling because being on the water tends to make you pretty hungry)!
The raft that we were on far exceeded any past rafts we had been on. Very sturdy and felt very safe. ALL of the equipment used on the trip (wetsuits, life jackets.... everything) was top of the line. The facility itself was clean and the staff was friendly and fun. I wouldn't have changed a thing about our trip!
Thank you so much to the guides Elisabeth, Michelle and Tyler! We will recommend MRO to anyone and everyone we know and will definitely be coming back!
