The three-acre Mordecai Children’s Garden sits atop the parking structure and provides hands-on plant education and play spring through fall (open seasonally). Special events, art exhibitions and guided tours takes place throughout the year. Nearly all of the York St location is wheelchair and stroller accessible; there are a few gravel paths and stairs, but different routes can be taken to see the area. Two dining options: Offshoots Café (open all year) and The Hive Garden Bistro (three-season) offer full meals, snacks and beverages. The Shop at the Gardens presents an incredible selection of garden-related tools, books and décor, along with locally-crafted home décor, tabletop items, accessories and bath and body items. We have visited many Botanic Gardens in our travels, but this was one of the best. Its sheer size of over 20 acres sets it apart. The variety of plant life is astounding and the walking paths are remarkable. The only problem we had was in getting tickets. They had to either be purchased online, by phone, or through a QR code displayed near the entrance. Since we don't know how to use the QR codes, we had to call and wait on hold for nearly half an hour for an agent. Otherwise, our visit was a great one and this garden is to be highly recommended.

We had a few afternoon hours after arriving in Denver and chose the gardens to soak in the sun. There is so much to see...so many hidden crannies full of blooms. Orchids were lovely in the conservatory. The irises and lilacs filled the air with sweetness. The girls enjoyed rolling down the hill...over and over and over.

Exceptional botanic gardens. My favorite area is probably the bansai exhibit. Always something new to see here because the plants are constantly blooming at different times. Currently they have a Salvador Dali collection on loan from the Dali museum in St. Petersburg, Florida.
