Glacier Quest Cruise - Self-Drive from Anchorage, AK

Aperçu
Drive the Seward Highway along the scenic Turnagain Arm to Whittier. The Glacier Quest Cruise takes you from the quaint seaside town of Whittier to glacier-filled Blackstone Bay, a dramatic deep-water fjord where two tidewater glaciers and several alpine glaciers await. Keep an eye out for sea otters, Steller sea lions, bears, mountain goats, whales, and more!

You will see several glaciers, including Tebenkof Glacier, named for Mikhail Demitrievich Tebenkof, an outstanding surveyor whose maps were the first charts of Alaska’s waters published in 1852. Northland Glacier rests majestically, clinging to the edge of the towering mountain. Blackstone and Beloit are tidewater glaciers that have carved a steep pathway to reach Prince William Sound’s saltwater. Cruise up close to these massive glaciers to watch for telltale signs of movement signaled by the distinct “pop” of glacier ice calving.

Reserved our Glacier Quest cruise months in advance. Received an email the night before our cruise that it had been cancelled, with no reason why. There is very little else you can do in Whittier when put in this situation at the last minute. More advance notice would have enabled us to plan something different. Just plain poor customer service to cancel last minute.

We never want to disappoint our guests, but unfortunately, we needed to cancel our Glacier Quest Cruise on the date you were scheduled to travel. When the captain notified the Anchorage office the night before the cruise, we quickly contacted guests to help revise their travel plans. We always offer guests the opportunity to change to our 26 Glacier Cruise, rebook the Glacier Quest Cruise for another day, or cancel and receive a full refund. Most guests switched to our 26 Glacier Cruise and continued with their plans to see the glaciers and wildlife in Prince William Sound. We apologize for the change in plans and wish you would have joined us on the other cruise.

This cruise was absolutely amazing experience. The scenery was spectacular. The crew were all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The captain had amazing ship handling capabilities that allowed everyone on the ship to be able to see the glaciers up close without even leaving their seats if they chose to stay seated.

This was a wonderful cruise. Very memorable. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The boat was comfortable, and clean. We were lucky as we had beautiful weather, sunny skies and pleasant temperatures. The water was calm so this is an excellent cruise if you tend to experience motion sickness. The food was great was well. I highly recommend!
