We rented two cars for our family of four. We booked the 3 hour route, as it hit most of the SF sites we wanted to see. Overall, the tour was fun, and the car was not hard to maneuver. The GPS went out in my husbands car before we got to the first stop, so he had to follow me, and they didn’t get the audio tour portion. Then, at Fort Point, we found his parking break did not work. We called to get a replacement car. After trying to trouble shoot, they did bring another car. The customer service was great with the replacement. We were probably 40 minutes delayed, and they restarted our time for us. Most of the time the GPS was fine, but she did give directions rather last minute, which is OK if you are at a 4way stop, one lane, but in some of the heavier traffic, it would be good to get a heads up as to where you need to be. Also, while the narrator is loud enough, if you happen to get off the route (as we did accidentally) the GPS that tries to get you back on is really soft...I didn’t actually know I was lost for a while, because I missed the directions. And once you are off the route, they don’t start talking again until you are back on the route. But that is where the map comes in handy. Overall it was a fun outing. We ended up getting back just under 3 hours. Had our time not restarted, we definitely would have been over time. If you want to do the 3 hour route and make a few stops, plan on 4 hours at least. Also, wear sunscreen. Sitting in the sun in traffic with no shade is brutal.
