My family took a vacation to San Francisco. We saw these awesome looking go cars driving around and thought it would be a fun thing to do with our kids. You only have to be 4 years old to be a passenger in the vehicle. When I called to get info on the GoCars, the woman on the phone was having a hard time explaining to me how to get to their location. She told me the fee was only $56 and we could drive the cars for as long as we wanted. When we got to the facility the next day, we were told (by a different person) that $56 is only for one hour. Getting anywhere in San Francisco at 3:45pm will never take only one hour. We hesitantly decided to take the tour. The idea of the GPS guided tour is fun. We were able to go at our own pace, we didn't have to deal with anything or stop anywhere we didn't want to stop at. We rented 2 GoCars. The one I was in, the speakers were not working so we could not hear anything. So, we returned the car and got a new one. AGAIN, the speakers were not working. Our time was ticking so we just stayed with that car. About half way through our tour, the speakers started working so we were able to hear facts and interesting points around the city. Our children enjoyed the tour and the car. We got lots of attention from other tourists walking who wanted to take our picture. The kids loved seeing the city from a different angle.
My advice is to take a tour long before traffic begins. The staff was not as friendly as I would have liked, but overall, my kids had fun and that is what matters.
