We rented two cars, both of which could have used a few improvements. One car had no padding at all on the seats, so the unlucky riders in that car had sore backs when they were done. We stopped at East beach for a few minutes and the car wouldn't start again. Luckily, calling the 800# on the car put us in touch with someone who was able to talk us through the trick to use the backup battery switch under the rear hood. The GPS in the other car was "flakey", but after a couple trips around the block and some electrical tape, the vendor had us on our way. We rented the cars for 2 hours and we were told the route to take to get back in two hours. Two hours was not enough to get back in time nor provided any time to stop anywhere (after our brief stop and dead battery incident). In short, it was bit of a whirlwind around the city to say the least. The vendor claims he clearly told us we needed to cut the tour at a certain point to get back in time frame (I believe there was a miscommunication... if communicated at all). So we ended up paying for an additional 1 hour for one car (at least he didn't charge me an extra for both cars). All in all, I would probably do it again (but I'm not sure I could convince my husband, who was driving the other car). If I do ever try it again in another city, at least now I'm smarter about what questions to ask and what to look for before doing a tour like this again.
We loved this excursion! The cars were easy to drive. The drivers in cars were respectful. The GPS tour guide was full of great information. The kids were totally entertained and learned a lot about San Francisco!
Great experience and fab way to see San Fran but the customer service was shocking. The man on the counter was rude, swore and extremely unhelpful. Didn't explain there was extra charge for faster vehicle or that the viator voucher is only good for $200 so exc tax.
