I was in San Francisco for a few days. My co worker and I didn't know what to do that day. We looked all over and finally the Concierge of our hotel told us about the GOcar. Right in the Fisherman's Wharf area.
We arrived at the rental office and they were busy. They first ask you the length of tour you wanna do. Since none of us had done it, we took the 2 hour tour. We left a credit card imprint and started to fill out the paper work, then they made us watch a small video of safety and how to operate the GOcar. That is really short! Then you go outside to pick your GOcar. They have 2 different GOcars; 1) The 50cc and top speed is 35 mph and some are more powerful. Choose a more powerful one if it is available. The only have a few. So try to call them to make a booking to reserve one. These guys have an awesome tourist attraction in their hands but the customer service is pretty bad. That is why I'm giving a 4 star to this attraction! So make sure that before taking your GOcar to look around the car and make sure that all the scratches are marked on their contract sheet. I took some pictures of our car. They show you how the GOcar works and then....... ;) yes!!! You take off on the streets of beautiful San Francisco. You drive among the cars and if you fallow what the GPS tells you, you'll be told what's around you while you drive and the GPS tells you to turn right or left, etc. A good system! But you don't have to go where the GPS tells you. The only thing is that if you don't, there won't be any voice telling you where to go. You'll be on your own. Bring your own GPS from home if you read this before going to San Francisco. So if you get lost, you'll have your own GPS to tell you which way to go!! It is "A Blast" driving that thing! Time flies while you're on it! We did 2 hours and it was not enough. Take over 3 hours and drive towards Golden Gate Bridge and even further it! You can stop almost anywhere you want with the GOcar. Look at their Web site for info on all tours offered. This is a great way to visit San Francisco. Be careful with locals (cars). They know that you are driving slower and they tend to pass you or cut you off.
This is a must! I'm gonna do it again this year and I'll take over 3 hours and take my time to see even more of San Francisco. If you are in a good hotel, ask the concierge. He1she might have a coupon so you could get a small discount on your ride ;) Go and you'll love it!!!
