Today we hired one of the San Francisco GoCars, and we've had an amazing journey following one of their GPS guided routes. At first we were quite nervous about driving the small yellow cars on the streets, but once we got going, the GoCar was very easy to control and managed to keep up with other vehicles throughout most of the journey. The map is perfectly fine, providing that you are able to read basic maps. The ride obviously isn't as comfortable as a full size car, but hey.. what do you expect from something that resembles a three wheeled go kart. After a full day travelling around, we feel perfectly fine, and have left with big smiles and lots of fun memories. During our time on the GoCar today we saw the Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Point, Baker Beach, China Beach, explored Presidio off route before returning on route to Lands End. We then stopped by the world famous Cliff House for a drink, before exploring the rocks and caves in the surrounding area. Our GoCar then guided us past the Dutch Windmill, through the Golden Gate Park, where we parked up to visit the California Academy of Science. We then headed through George Lucas territory, before desending Lombard street with some very bemused tourists. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone, and just wish that we had an extra day to explore the other GoCar routes on the other side of the city.
I hope this review is helpful for anyone curious about the GoCar tours.
Thanks,
Simon
