Four of us (two couples) just had a fabulous adventure in San Francisco this past Saturday (6/5). We rented two GoCars and set off on one of their GPS-guided tours of the city. We spent the next 5+hours seeing many of the sites of SF including, but not limited to, Fisherman's Wharf, the Marina, the Palace of Fine Arts, Crissy Field, Fort Mason, Baker Beach, a spectacular view of the city from atop Twin Peaks, and a descent down a trademark of SF, crooked Lombard Street. Chris and Kevin at GoCar's Beach St location were excellent "hosts" (as I'll call them). They were extremely helpful and cordial and had us watch a short movie regarding operating instructions and features of the vehicles, and above all, safety. They got us outfitted with a couple of the three-wheelers and made sure we were fully prepped before we ventured out on to the street. The GPS system immediately came online and started speaking to us, giving more than just directions, but also descriptions of the places we visited as well as some history. She (the guide's voice) kept us on track and even warned us when we managed to go off-course (it's hard to get too lost). It was a great experience and I would whole-heartedly recommend this to anyone interested in seeing the city in a more "up close and personal" way. It's no exageration to say "A great time was had by all"...and we're already talking about another GoCar excursion sometime soon!
