Wow! Emily Jo knows her stuff!!! I had an AMAZING day hiking up to Bunsen Peak and then on to Osprey Falls. Emily Jo knows so much about the flora and fauna in the area and I learned so much while taking in the scenery. She made sure I had enough food, water and clothing to ensure a safe journey, and explained bear safety thoroughly. As a city girl, I felt very comfortable following behind her and I can’t wait to come back to do more exploring. This hike is strenuous but SO worth it to escape the crowds and really appreciate all that Yellowstone is. Do yourself a favor and book with them, you will not regret it!

Our family of three (parents and 10-year old) had an amazing adventure in the Lamar Valley with Emily Jo Mahan. She took us on a back-country hike through a beautiful section of the valley and showed us many of the subtle and hidden aspects of Yellowstone’s natural history. She was very knowledgeable about the animals and plants we saw and enthusiastically answered all of our questions. We had a great lunch, and my wife particularly appreciated the vegetarian sandwich. We three give the tour six thumbs up.

Emily is an amazing guide. She and her husband own the company and have been guiding for along time. She is enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. She never stopping talking, educating, and telling great stories. We got a late start because the whole group had a hard time finding the meeting place . My only criticism is that they need to give much better directions to the meeting place since none of us had and internet or phone service in the park. Driving early in the morning to the meeting place is incredible itself since there’s so much wildlife on the way. We didn’t see a lot of animals on the hike, but Emily takes u back in time and it becomes quite obvious why conservation is so important. Even my teenager , who I couldn’t convince to be eco conscious, had to agree at the end of the day, he understands the importance. Also a really nice lunch. I recommend the hike and this company . We took another hike with another company which was disappointing and totally overpriced. Highly recommend YHGuides!
