If I were telling a friend how to visit the Grand Canyon, the ONLY part of our experience I would recommend is the Inner Canyon Tour. EVERYTHING ELSE can be done better, and less expensively, WITHOUT GCR. I would suggest MUCH less expensive lodging closer to the Canyon, then driving into the park, leaving the car, and using the really outstanding free shuttle service to travel from outlook to outlook--as well as a walk along the rim. GCR's combination of train and coach allowed us only TWO TWENTY-MINUTE STOPS on the rim, which was really the reason for the trip. The hotel was, at best, indifferent.
