We were thrilled with out choice to take the train to the Grand Canyon, rather than drive! Our car host, Amber Rose, was terrific. She interacted in a genuine way with each group in our car. She was also funny and incredibly knowledgeable of both history and the geography of our surroundings. We learned things we never would have discovered on our own. You have approximately 3 hours on your own to explore the rim from the Village. It was the right amount of time for us. We ate lunch at the Bright Angel Lodge. There are options for GF and Vegan. The food was delicious, running about $13 each.I As mentioned in other reviews, there are entertainers and a photographer. We weren't annoyed by them looking for tips or purchasing photos because we knew what to expect and didn't feel pressured.

Our family opted for this train visit to the Grand Canyon along with the motorcoach tour (which included a stop for lunch) and both were fantastic choices. The train ride was a little over 2 hours there and a little over 2 hours back and the motorcoach tour was a little over 2 hours as well including lunch. I think visiting in December during a non peak time also afforded us the opportunity to have direct access to many of the great things to see without all the crowds so it was a great time to go. Amber Rose was our guide on the train ride to and from the Grand Canyon. She is so funny and warm and had so much information to share with us along the ride up and back. She is truly a great asset to the Grand Canyon Railway team and it was nice spending time and getting to know her and she us. Tom was our motorcoach driver and tour guide and he was great as well, very energetic, answering any questions, sharing information, taking great photo-ops for us and making sure to care for those along on our tour who needed a little bit of extra assistance. I would highly recommend as a convenient way to see the highlights of the Grand Canyon.

We traveled with family and kids (ages 6-10). It was a great train ride, with several entertaining role plays by staff. (A group of train robbers stopped our train on the way back, intending to rob us). It was quite exciting and amusing. The weather was perfect and great views of the Canyon. There is so much to see at the Canyon; historical bldgs. and interesting information about how it was to live in the area years ago. Well worth going, especially this time of year. The hotel in Williams, AZ was nice and staff very accommodating. Our pkg. deal included breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Excellent food and service. We want to go again!
