Today was my 4th trip with Eclipse Charters and I have been on other whales boats both this week and over the years. Eclipse Charters is THE BEST whale boat in the NW. The captains and naturalists are so very attentive, kind, educational and fun. They take great care of all onboard and provide the best experience possible. It is easy to see how much they enjoy what they do. I can't wait to come back next season!

The captain really put his expertise and best effort into reaching the orcas (July 2010). At his own gasoline expense, he pushed his boat at full speed both there and back to reach the whales (near Canada) and maximize our time with them. We had at least 45-60min to whale watch and got to sit up front in the captains deck. The boat accomodates covered and uncovered whale watching. Two nature specialists were aboard to inform and answer questions. I felt my business was just as valued using a Groupon as being a full-paying customer, and the crew were fantastic. Orcas in their natural habitat is an experience everyone should have. It was amazing.

We went on a whale watching trip with Eclipse yesterday. The captain and crew were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the whales and other wildlife in the area. The naturalists, Mary and Debbie, chatted freely and shared a bounty of information about the whales. They had books to reference which whales, and from which pods, we were viewing. Once we found the whales (which were PLENTIFUL), the magic started happening. We saw one of the larger whales chasing a salmon, RIGHT off the port side of the boat and under the boat. It was AMAZING!!! (Of course, the part about salmon "fishing" had nothing to do with Eclipse itself, but still worth sharing :-) The boat was clean and comfortable, with upper deck viewing area, and inside seating. Snacks and beverages available at a minimal charge. Definitely recommend!!!
