This was a great way to see the city from a different perspective as long as get an amazing history lesson. Although there is so much to do and see in this city I would say this can't be missed to complete your experience.
The city tour was very disappointing. We drove quickly by some famous spots: The Cotton Museum, The Lorraine Motel, The Sun Recording Studio and a few old wealthy homes. We watched the ducks at the Peabody Hotel, which was of little interest to me, although it was nicely done. We spent the longest period of time at a museum at St. Judes which was a homage to Danny Thomas. I doubt that anyone on our tour was interested in that spot and did not care to spend any length of time there. We ate lunch on our own on Beale Street. The driver/guide was difficult to understand as she described the sights. She repeated herself several times. She did not give a good explanation that the tickets that we were given were needed at the very end of the tour in order to board the bus to be returned to our hotel. I did not get a good overview of the history of Memphis and left without interest in returning to Memphis. The Riverboat Cruise was more interesting. We circled the river from bridge to bridge. The tour guide gave a great deal of information and had some interesting anecdotes with some humor.
I would recommend the Riverboar Cruise but not the Memphis City Tour.
Was great. Lot of fun. Would recommend visitors to Memphis go on this tour.
