You will dine on a preset food and drink menu, and in the process introduce your taste buds to dishes that tell the unique story of each proprietor.  And what stories they have to tell!

Matt combines his knowledge of history with his perfect choices of food stops. I never knew half of the facts he shared and it made me see the city in a new way. The food stops were eclectic and unique in the best way possible-- I don't think I would have found half of these places on my own, but I'll definitely be going back. Matt has found some hidden foodie gems that you wouldn't want to miss!

Whether its the history, the cuisine, or both, all I care about is that each participant is inspired in some way by the story telling. Thank you for appreciating the tour.

Joining the guide, Matt, on the tour is like being with a perfect mix of foodie and historian. Pros: - As a fan of history, Matt had me hooked with his introduction and overview of Chelsea and the Flatiron District. This oriented us to the uniqueness of the tour and the focus it would have for the duration of the adventure. - Blended in with this 'just right' amount of history, were the food stops. Being guided by Matt was like hanging out with a local that had the inside scoop on what to do and where to go. A 9th floor chocolate heaven, a contemporary Russian restaurant, a historical Jewish deli with a unique story, and seeing cheese made in the middle of Manhattan. Each stop had a unique past that Matt brought to life with his stories and made relevant for the present. - At each stop, the food choices were not only unique to the venues, but also great conversation starters as our group shared stories of growing up with some of the items and being introduced to new ones. - The pace of the tour was just right - history, food, walk, repeat. Kept it lively and engaging for the duration of the experience. Cons: - Nothing on the tour itself - just keep in mind that you'll be walking from venue to venue. Bring your comfortable shoes and some water on a hot day! Kudos to Hidden NYC (and our tour guide, Matt) for crafting a unique experience that made a tourist feel like I had a behind the scenes view of the Big Apple!

Matt is a wonderful guide who has planned an excellent food tour of the Flat Iron / Chelsea area of NYC... he is warm, friendly and a good host! The combination of local history (details I never knew and I am a life-long NY-er), great food and a few drinks makes this a winning tour. It was engaging from start to finish, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore "the Hidden NYC".

The true test for me is whether I make this tour worth while for a local who knows the terrain, and I appreciate hearing that you got so much out of it. Thank you.
