I got rather lucky in that I turned out to be the only one that booked an extreme tour on the day, so they agreed to do a customized full day tour for me (reasonable price increase). So lesson here to others, if you are bringing a group or want to do something custom - apparently they are very open to it and happy to accommodate if they can. For my day, because it was just the guide and myself, we really got to cover a whole lot of ground. I'm a fairly experienced rider, and I like to ride challenging trails and I like to ride fast. My guide was Bryce and as a pro racer he was certainly a more capable operator than I, so I found the pace to be perfect all day. Basically I went the speed I was comfortable with and he stayed in front. Perfect.
Some comments to other experienced riders that want to know what to expect: I would say we covered basically 3 styles of trail. Very sandy, very rutted, and very rocky. None of the trails would be anything more than an intermediate rating on most ATV club maps. There are no technical climbs or tricky low traction areas, etc. Expert skills are only required to navigate them as the pace increases. Having said this, its still an intermediate trail and novices are more likely to get themselves hurt. The sandy trails are the most fun. The very rutted is completely unfun and the very rocky gets old fast (its not technical rocky, its just beat you and wish the bike had power steering level rocky). Apparently a big race just ran and the very rutted section will be re-graded in the near future.
Long story short, I loved all the different scenery and Bryce really made the day. Felt like a day out riding with a buddy. I'll definitely be back.
