Overall beautiful scenery but be aware of mixed age groups and hiking ability. I am an experienced hiker who can easily hike twice the distance of this trail on the east coast that is...I am 64 years old and this was my first visit to the Rocky Mountains and chose to respect the altitude and the new terrain and enjoy the view. The problem was Mike, the guide, seemed annoyed at my pace and that he had to stay with me while the much younger crowd went ahead even though I insisted I would be fine on my own.... he said he was not allowed to leave me but on the way down another member of group was assigned to walk with me while he went ahead with the others....he even went so far as to tell me that resting and or slowing down was making me worse and not helping. I decided not to let him ruin the moment or diminish my accomplishment but in retrospect I believe he rushed the hike so he could add on extra scenic stops for extra tips ....I did tip him anyway but not as much as I would have if he were kinder, more compassionate, and encouraging....hope this helps someone to ask some additional questions when booking....

We had such a great experience on this tour. Mike was lovely -- full of knowledge, fun to banter with and he extended our trip by a couple of hours! On the way to Rocky Mountain National Park, we stopped at Boulder Falls and St. Malo's Chapel on the Rocks. Both were stunning. At Rocky Mountain National Park, we decided to hike the Cup Lake Trailhead, which takes you on a 2.5-mile journey to a beautiful lake in the mountains (~10K feet high), with SO many critters and the most beautiful scenery along the way. We had a really slow member of our hiking pack, and despite the many breaks we took, Mike never left the hiker's side. He always had our backs! We saw an entire herd (flock? bunch?) of elk on this hike, and when we got back to our car, we had an elk walk right up to the vehicle and cross the street in front of us. We even heard one bugle on the hike! Incredible. After our hike, Mike drove us up the Mount Evans Scenic Byway, which is the highest paved road in North America. We stopped for some of the most breathtaking photos I was able to capture on my trip. Our last stop was at the Stanley Hotel, for a much-needed bear, some ice cream and ghost-hunting. For those of you that don't know, The Stanley Hotel is the famously-spooky place that Stephen King sourced his inspiration from for the movie, 'The Shining.' By the end of the day, Mike had gone over our tour time by a couple of hours, and we had the BEST time on our trip.

Mike was a fantastic tour guide. He was so flexible to the needs and wants of our group and was truly committed to making sure our group saw and did everything we wanted to including Lily Lake, a 2.3 mile hike to Cub Lake in the Rockies, a drive up Trail Ridge, a visit to the Stanley Hotel, and a drive through Boulder. We had so much fun with him and he was very encouraging when the hike got a little bit challenging at the end. And of course, the places he took us too we’re awesome. We saw three moose and countless other wild turkeys and chipmunks. And the views were nothing short of majestic!
