We did the Hilo Bay tour and it was a joke and a complete waste of time. We rode 10 minutes along the bay into a cove and then just sat there for 20 minutes doing nothing. The guide finally let us out to walk around on the rocks. Then we were done. I think he was trying to figure out how to kill time for the next hour. No history of Hilo, no explanation of anything, just nothing. I wish I could get my money back. To waste more time, he drove us out into the bay. We fought over 10-12 ft swells in the small dinky boat. We were all planning our escape route of how to swim to shore when the boat sank or flipped. At least we will laugh about that part of it.....

Mimi, we apologize that you did not enjoy your Hilo Bay tour with us. We try to make sure we are clear in our descriptions of our tours. The Hilo Bay tour is intended to be a relaxing boat ride around Hilo Bay ending in a photo opportunity under the singing bridge and near the Wailuku river falls. The tour description includes these details. It is a tour designed for those who may be seeking more of a sightseeing tour. The tour duration is meant to be about an hour on the water. We normally motor by the hotels, into reeds bay and to the ice pond, then along the break wall to the singing bridge and waterfall for a photo opp, then a return along the coastline. Our captain has 40 years of experience and was born and raised in Hilo. We do try and tailor the adventure to those on the boat. If some one is seeking a little more adventure he can run the ride a little faster and as he did with you head out into the bay to maybe see some whales or dolphins. Again this is the exception and not the norm as the tour is designed as a boat ride. We would be happy to offer you a discount on our larger boat and the whale watch adventure which travels up the Hamakua coast in search of sea life. this tour is MUCH more exciting as it is a venture into deep ocean. Again sorry the tour did not meet your expectations.
