Come experience the views of Hilo town from a different perspective, with a guided kayak or paddle board adventure! Two hour fully guided and narrated tours of Hilo Bay depart the pier behind KapohoKine Adventures store. Join our knowledgeable and lifeguard certified guides as we explore the history of this intriguing area, from the surprising history of Moku Ola (coconut island) to the changes our dynamic landscape has made to Hilo town. We’ll mosey along tranquil rivers and explore hidden waterfalls, beaches, and a hydroelectric plant, all the while keeping an eye out for friendly honu. Take a refreshing dip if you’d like before heading back to shore. Water and light snack provided.

We had a lovely morning on the waters of Hilo bay with Evan in January 2020. We were one of 2 couples, each sharing a double kayak. We kayaked across the bay to the Wailuku river and then headed up a short distance to a waterfall. Evan was a friendly informative guide. He showed my husband how to paddle the kayak right under the waterfall as I laughed and took photos from the front seat. Ended the morning with a light lunch and a chat in the grounds of the nearby hotel. Highly recommended.

We went on the kayak tour today. Our teenagers (14 and15 years old) loved the tour. Our guide Evan was very knowledgeable and helpful. The kayak to the waterfall was easy and the waterfall was so beautiful kayaking underneath it was a magical experience. On the way back we saw turtles swimming in the river. Highly recommend the tour and Evan!
